About me
It’s taken a while to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I initally wanted to do firefighting, like my older brother Ben, but instead decided to go for nursing. While working on prerequisites for nursing, Ben had a friend who helped me get a job as an ER medical scribe. After spending a good amount of time doing that, I decided I really wanted to become a doctor. A few years into the biology degree I realized that medical school wasn’t for me and decided to pivot to computer science.
How I came to computer science was through my other older brother Paul. He works as a software developer in Dallas. I thought maybe software development was for me too. My dad also has a tech related job, he works as a network engineer, so I’ve always had computers around my whole life. I started CS at the University of Texas at Arlington in the Fall of 2018. I’m about finished with my degree and found that I really enjoy solving problems and writing software. After my internship with EzLynx, they liked me enough to bring me on as a software developer!
About my cat
Hubble was found on our front porch at the beginning of August 2020. He was pretty beat up (by other street cats) and smelled pretty awful. After spending some time with him out on the porch, we thought he was just too friendly to not have an owner. We brought him inside, gave him a bath (listen, he smelled pretty bad), and kept him isolated to the bathroom until we were able to take him to the vet. At the vet, we had him checked for a chip, and none was found. We got him vaccinated, a well checkup, and some flea medicine. We looked around for the owner through nextdoor, the apartment forum, and lost signs, but no hits.
Now Hubble leads an indoor life. He’s pretty outgoing (very quick to make biscuits on strangers) and never holds back any meows he feels like we need to hear.
